Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation Review.

Estee lauder have recently changed the formula of their ever so popular double wear foundation so I thought id give it a try. About a year or so ago I owned this foundation and I remember really liking it so I wasnt too sure what I would think about the formula change - having read many negative comments about it.

The first thing I noticed is the colour range is completely different, each colour seems a lot darker and I found it difficult to find a colour that matched my skin - mainly because even the warm colours (for people with yellow undertone skin) had elements of pink/red- I have yellow undertone skin, but just slightly (when I am not tanned).

Once I started using this foundation the pink undertone was even more noticeable and appeared orangey on my skin. The new formula is slightly more runny which I though would actually be better as the previous foundation was extremely thick. The new consistency makes it easier to apply however it contradicts the 'double wear' as it the coverage is not as good and it definately doesnt last the 15+ hours that it advertises.

At £28.50 this product is waaayy overpriced and the actual foundation is what I would expect from a much lower priced drug store foundation (I actually much prefer my curreny rimmel foundation to this one)

Bit of a negative blogpost but I felt I had to be honest. Have you tried the new estee lauder foundation? What are your thoughts?

September Product Reviews

Chanel foundation Perfection Lumiere
I originally bought this product as I wanted to get out of my 'I only by MAC foundation' phase. I'd heard pretty good things about this foundation from friends, so I went to my local boots and purchased it. (for 36.00 I was expecting nothing short of a miracle.)
I was not impressed. It goes on nice and lightly and doesnt have the 'cakey' feel which a lot of MAC foundations often have, however, I have combination skin where some parts are oily and some parts are dry, and I felt that this foundation highlighted my oily skin. It also went patchy very quick.
The foundation had more of an pinky undertone, which makes me look a bit orange (booo) and didnt stay on very well at all. I was so disapointed in this as I was really hoping it would be good! I will definitely not be repurchasing this, however I will be trying other Chanel makeup.

Benefit 'Benetint' Blush and Lip Stain
Like the Chanel foundation, I was really excited to try this product. I was given it as a gift, but on the benefit website this product retails for 24.50. (yikes)
I found this product really awkward to get the hang of, when I put it on my cheeks I either didnt leave it long enough before blending, or I left it too long and was unable to blend it at all - meaning face makeup had to be removed and done again (facepalm). Another thing, this stuff stains! If your having an annoying makeup day where nothing is going right, forget about taking this off and starting again, its like dye!
Once I got used to this product I was pleasently surprised. I just use a light amount as I dont like a lot of red on my cheeks (Im more of a peach blusher girl.)

Barry M lipstick in 'Black cherry'
I love Barry M products as they are very in expensive yet good quality; however I have never owned any of their lipsticks. For a while now I have wanted a deep purple lipstick so I thought I would go for this one. The lipstick is very pigmented so you can just add a little for a paler colour or a lot for a more dramatic look. I found that this lipstick was a little dry, even though it is labelled as ultra moisturising, but thats most likely because my lips are ALWAYS dry. To make it look a bit better I had to add a touch of vaseline on top. I will most likely invest in some more Barry M lipsticks but I think I will stick to lighter, more natural shades.

Let me know if you have any of these products, and what you think of them!

MAC + Rick Baker Collection

MAC have teamed up with special effects makeup artist Rick Baker for a limited edition haloween inspired makeup line. The new collection features a range of new products focussing on deep and bright colours with a definitive haloween inspiration.

Top left to Bottom right - Paintstick, Monster bride pro pallette,Spider queen pro pallette, Penultimate eyeliner, Chomagraphic pensils, Lip pencils, Face and body foundation, Set powder, Chromacake, Acrylic paint, Cyber lipstick, Monster FX.

The makeup can be used to create various spooky looks but of course can also be used for everyday makeup looks. One of my favuorite products from the range is the lipstick in the colour 'Cyber'. This lipstick is a gorgeous deep purple colour which I think is an amazing statement colour to change up an ordinary makeup look.

Another favourite of mine from the collection is 'The monsters bride' eyeshadow pallette. The pallete features the eyeshadows 'My lar', 'Omega', 'Bitter', 'Club', 'Brun' and 'Carbon'. The shadow 'bitter' is a bit daring and I dont personally think Id be able to incorparate this colour into my makeup as im just not that brave, however, the other colours are all colours that I would happily use, particularly 'omega' which is a beigey colour and 'brun' which is a muted black/brown.

The collection also includes acyrlic paint, and vibrant coloured pencils- perfect for creating professional face paint looks for haloween. The collection to me is edfinately something different to what MAC usually goes for but I think it makes much more of a statements and ecourages more experimenting with makeup.

The collection hits stores October 3rd and I will definately be in line to pick up some of the items. What do you think of the new MAC collection? Will you be trying any of the products out for haloween looks?

Mini Toiletry Shop

Left to right : Aussie 3 minute miracle re-constructor deep conditioning, VO5 'smoothly does it conditioner and shampoo, ASDA passion fruit body butter, ASDA raspberry shower and bath gel, ASDA lime hair and body wash, Body shop coconut body butter, Body shop almond hand and nail cream, Batiste dry shampoo

I dont know about anyone else, but shopping for toiletries is one of my most FAVOURITE things to do. (mainly bath and shower stuff), as Ive picked up a few things recently I thought I'd share them with you.

I've never before tried any of the ASDA range of bath and shower gels e.t.c but I was drawn to the raspberry show and bath gel as it has the 'tickled pink' logo for breast cancer. I thought it was such cute idea as a certain percentage from the sale goes to Breast cancer care. It also smelled absolutely amazing! After I picked this up I noticed the range has a '3 for £5' offer, bargaaainnn. So along with that I picked up the Lime hand a body wash and the Passion fruit body butter. I'm yet to try these out but they all smell amazing – if I like the smell of something its already a winner in my eyes!

Another favourite of mine is the Aussie 3 minute miracle deep conditioner so I picked this up as my hair is in a disastrous state. Between constant dyeing and blow drying it everyday I must admit its not in the best condition. The Aussie 3 minute miracle is just that, a miracle. I apply it about twice a week, more if my hair is feeling extra awful, after shampooing and leave it on for a while (usually longer than the recommended 3 minutes) then wash off. Whilst i the haircare aisle I bought my usual VO5 shampoo and conditioner. Im really impressed by this range of hair products at the moment, there cheap in price but they still do a good job so if your looking for a budget shampoo and conditioner Id definately recomend this.

The final few things I bought were from the body shop, there was also an offer on here which was 'buy 2 get 1 free'. Ive had some of the mini body shop butters in the past  and I loved them so thought I'd invest in a larger one. Im usually drawn to fruity smells so I immediately picked up the mango one but I eventually decided to buy the coconut scent. As much as i love the smell of mangoes, I could imagine it become quite sickly after a while. Next thing I bought was the almond hand and nail cream, I have extremely dry hands from using so much hand sanitizer and ive only been using this the past few days but so far it has been a godsend! my hands are no longer as dry and it also seems to be helping the skin around my nails. so far so good! I also bought the vanilla body scent ( not pictured) its very very strong so only a small spray is needed but its a really fresh scent and its nice to use it instead of perfume if one day you dont want an overpowering perfumed smell.
